PH 80 Floor Lamp
Poul Henningsen developed the three-shade-system in 1925-26, exhibiting his lamps with Louis Poulsen until 1967. He sought to cast soft shadows via incandescent bulbs, creating a logarithmic spiral for even light distribution/reducing glare. PH 80 (1974) was named for his 80th birthday and contains a red reflector, opal acrylic shades, and a rough base. The black version features a black plate/white reflector and matte-black stand/socket holder; white PH 80 is all-white. Over 1000 models were produced.
Light concept
The fixture emits a diffused, reflected, symmetrical light. The majority of the light is directed downward. The opal acrylic shades provide comfortable room lighting. On the orginal fixture, the red hue of the top reflector adds an intense, warm glow to the light. The black and white fixtures have a white top reflector that reflects the light for a clean, elegant look. The choice of light source will determine the color of the illumination.
