A window on the world we belong to: this is how Marcantonio likes to describe the Cielo and Terra carpets. A way to always bear in mind the world we come from, the animals of our earth that we would have met walking in the forests several centuries ago, and the skies we would have seen when we lifted up our heads to find a ray of sunlight. Carpets in synthetic fibre, printed in a four-colour process, with a satin edge trim and felted bottom - available in two catalogue sizes but broadly customisable - that replicate scenes of flora and fauna “of land” and “sea” in a style that broadly recalls the images of 17th Cent. paintings and frescoes. An age that for the first time provided a “modern interpretation” of nature as the beginning of the life and the movement of all things living, conceived as a living whole, organically and necessarily co-ordinated with mankind.
